I've interviewed an eclectic set of entertainers, authors, and thought leaders. There's something in this group for anyone: Paula Abdul, Oleta Adams, Gerald Albright, Patti Austin, George Benson, Angela Bofill, Jim Brickman, Charnele Brown, Karamo Brown, Peabo Bryson, Cedric The Entertainer, Barney Chang, Nick Chiles, Deborah Cox, Sarah Dash, Richard Donner, Will Downing, Lamont Dozier, Sheena Easton, Terry Fator, Kirk Franklin, Kenny G, Larry Gatlin, Gloria Gaynor, Danny Glover, Larnelle Harris, Edwin Hawkins, Tramaine Hawkins, Ernie Isley, Beverly Johnson, Glenn Jones, Montell Jordan, KC & The Sunshine Band, Jayne Kennedy, Stacy Lattisaw, Benson Lee, Jenifer Lewis, Melissa Manchester, Babbie Mason, Johnny Mathis, Audra McDonald, Brian McKnight, Claude McKnight, Terry McMIllan, David Menasche, Wendy Moten, Ann Nesby, Billy Ocean, Jeffrey Osborne, Ray Parker Jr., Sandi Patty, Phil Perry, Piff The Magic Dragon, Ruth Pointer, Priscilla Presley, Charlie Pride, Dianne Reeves, Martha Reeves, David Ritz, Kenny Rogers, Rhonda Ross, Darius Rucker, don Miguel Ruiz, Rep. Bernie Sanders, Seal, Valerie Simpson, Kim Sledge, Damien Sneed, Shaun T, J. Randy Taraborrelli, John Tesh, Keith Thomas, Tye Tribbett, Iyanla Vanzant, Ben Vereen, Narada Michael Walden, Dionne Warwick, Martha Wash, Jody Watley, Karyn White, Billy Dee Williams, Deniece Williams, Vanessa Williams, Mary Wilson (of The Supremes), BeBe Winans, Carvin Winans, CeCe Winans, and Deborah Joy Winans.
I've been fortunate enough to talk to so many of the people who've inspired or uplifted me in some way, and I don't take those experiences for granted.
My dream interview? The list changes every day. I'm a curious guy (my dad always called it "nosy").
I've wanted to talk with Stephen King ever since The Stand scared me to death in high school. Berry Gordy and David Foster are high on the list. And one day, I'll be sitting under that tree at The Promised Land with Oprah.
The ones I missed? I almost got to Trevor Noah, just before he got The Daily Show. I came just short of landing Aretha Franklin, just before her health took a final turn. I would have loved to have spoken with Michael Masser.
I've published with Jet Magazine, HuffPost, Uptown Magazine, The Hub, Gallo Mag, Funky Town Grooves, Gay Parent Magazine, EUR, and a variety of other online and traditional publications. And I write for a variety of not-for and for profits. Of those, I'm most proud of my partnership with Nielsen. If you've read any of their consumer reports over the last five years, chances are you've read my stuff.
On top of all of that, I'm almost fluent in english, I'm studying spanish, and I studied french in high school and college.
